“Cancer” is the bane of our existence and rightfully so, it is the second most common reason for death in India.
Did you know there are over 100 diseases that classify as cancer and according to World Health Organization at least one-third of all cancer cases are preventable!
Over the course of this month, we will be tackling one cancerous devil at a time. With proper awareness let’s aim to remove the stigma and fear attached!
For this session, we have Ms. Aruna Ummat, who will be speaking on the most common cancers that occur in children and the effective treatments available.
Ms. Aruna has worked in the college and school education system for 40 years and retired as Principal of a renowned school in Delhi. After retirement, she joined the Indian Cancer Society in 2012 as a volunteer. Indian Cancer Society (ICS) is a reputed non-governmental organization (NGO) working relentlessly for Cancer awareness and control. As an awareness speaker, she delivers awareness talks in schools, colleges, private and Govt. offices, and communities. She has also visited hospitals to provide emotional support to patients and their families Also to reach out to a larger audience, she has given talks on cancer-related issues on FM Radio enabling people to make informed choices. Now as Director Training, she is responsible for training the trainers, new volunteers, and college interns for various programs of the Indian Cancer Society. Additionally, she is also a Member FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), Member Inner Wheel Club of Gurgaon South City, and Member Tangent Club of India.
